God My Maker

Scripture References: Psalm 139:13-16, Jeremiah 1:5, Isaiah 64:8

Good morning, church! Today, I want us to reflect on a truth that is simple yet profound: God is our Maker. We often go through life focusing on what we can do, what others think of us, or the challenges we face—but have you ever stopped to consider the One who made you? Not just your parents, not just the world around you, but God Himself, the Creator of all things, who carefully formed you with love and purpose.

Psalm 139:13-14 says:
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Notice the words: “fearfully and wonderfully made.” God didn’t make mistakes when He made you. Every detail of your life, every part of your personality, every talent and skill is intentional.

Point 1: God Knows Us Fully
When we think of a Maker, we usually think of someone who creates something from nothing. But God doesn’t just make us—He knows us fully. He knows our thoughts, our desires, our strengths, and even our weaknesses. He created the very cells that make up our bodies and the mind that processes every thought.

Think about it: before you were born, God already knew you. Your life isn’t random. You are not an accident. You are fearfully and wonderfully made—a masterpiece of God Himself.

Application: Take a moment to embrace who God made you to be. Stop comparing yourself to others and start celebrating the unique design God has given you.

Point 2: God Has a Purpose for Us
Jeremiah 1:5 says:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.”

This is powerful! God isn’t just our Maker; He is our Planner. He has a purpose for every life He creates. Even when life feels uncertain, confusing, or unfair, God is at work shaping us to fulfill His plan.

Imagine a potter shaping clay. Sometimes the clay is soft, sometimes it’s under pressure, but the potter knows exactly what the final masterpiece will look like. That’s how God works in our lives. Every experience—good or bad—is shaping us into the person He designed us to be.

Application: Trust God with your life, even when things feel messy. He is shaping you into something beautiful.

Point 3: God Deserves Our Worship and Trust
Isaiah 64:8 reminds us:
“Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”

Knowing God as our Maker calls us to worship Him—not just in song, but in how we live our lives. Worship is trusting Him with our future, obeying His Word, and being grateful for the life He has given us.

Illustration: Think of a child holding their parent’s hand while walking in a dark place. The child doesn’t understand the path ahead, but they trust the parent’s guidance. That’s the kind of trust God asks from us—trusting that His design for our lives is perfect.

Conclusion
Church, today I want you to leave remembering this: God is your Maker. He knows you fully, has a purpose for you, and is shaping your life every day. You are not an accident. You are not forgotten. You are wonderfully made by a loving God who desires the best for you.

Call to Action:
This week, reflect on these questions:

  • How am I living as God’s creation?

  • Am I trusting Him as my Maker in every area of my life?

And finally, let’s live with gratitude, trusting in His design, and honoring Him in all we do.
